Emily Allchurch

There’s a wonderful exhibition of work at the Djanogly Art Gallery in Nottingham by Emily Allchurch, who uses meticulous digital photographic collages backlit by lightboxes to create stunningly vibrant images with intense colours. ‘In the Footsteps of a Master’ reinterprets the prints of nineteenth-century Japanese master Utagawa Hiroshige, one of whose prints I just happen to have hanging in my sitting room (not an original, worse luck). In addition, there are some beguiling urban fantasies before which one stands transfixed for several aeons.

The exhibition is free and it continues until 31 August. The programme can be read here.
